Arbitration stands as a crucial form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), enabling disputes to be settled outside traditional courts with significant advantages. The arbitration process is faster and more cost-effective than judicial proceedings, promoting timely justice—a necessity in today’s world. Many countries have established laws specifically to govern arbitration, with India emerging as a center for international commercial arbitration.

India adopted the UNCITRAL Model Law on International and Commercial Arbitration through The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, which regulates both domestic and international arbitrations or conciliations. The Act was further refined in 2015 to address procedural specifics.
